Globe is a range of hard wearing, highly decorative Fire Resistant (FR) wall panels available in a range of FR materials including MDF and Birch Plywood.
These panels have the option of being faced with a variety of timber veneers and used as a decorative wall panel. As well as being perforated in an array of patterns which when combined with the substrate and veneer options give flexibility of design. FR Globe panels achieve fire group ratings of 1S for NZ and 1 for Australia without an intumescent coating. Perforated panels are backed with black felt backing, and offer high NRC values when installed over acoustic blanket.
Suitable for interior spaces in commercial offices, hotels, restaurants, retail, multi-functional halls, art galleries, libraries, theatres, auditoriums, schools and universities. Globe panels are very architectural and aesthetically pleasing and will make a feature out of any project. |

Veneer options
The below range of timber veneers can be pressed onto any of the panels above. These are mainly pressed onto the FR MDF black and FR MDF Natural panels, which when machined through the veneer, reveal the black or natural colours of the substrate panel.
We offer a range of finish options in satin and matte which bring out the natural beauty and warmth of the timber, along with paint finished panels.
There are many more veneer options available on request. If you have a particular timber theme or colour you want to match up to, please let us know.

Paint finish
We can paint finish any of the Globe panels with any colour. Black paint finish is more popular and when on Black FR MDF looks very smart.
Panels are painted prior to being machined which makes for a clean sharp panel.

TrimsWhile we recommend a 4mm gap between the panels which gives the negative detail effect, we also have the option of an aluminium edge trim that protrudes 2mm from the face of the panel. This can be powdercoated or anodized in a range of colours with the most popular being black powdercoating.
Edge trims are available for 12mm, 16mm and 18mm panel thicknesses and makes for a smart thin line between the sheets. Trims are also available for internal and external corners. Edge trim codes are: ZPET12 Zenthe Panel Edge Trim 12 (for 12mm thick panels) ZPET16 Zenthe Panel Edge Trim 16 (for 16mm thick panels) ZPET18 Zenthe Panel Edge Trim 18 (for 18mm thick panels) |
Installation & Fixing Information
Screw FixGlobe panels can be screw fixed into timber framed or steel framed walls. Most walls have battens or studs at 600 centers and we recommend fixing around the top and bottom edges at 250 centers and the side edges & through the middle of the sheet at 440mm centers – see typical screw fix pattern for 2400 x 1200 sheets. (PDF here).
Screw fix can be used when there is a 4mm gap between the sheets and also with the trim surround. If the screws are evenly spaced it looks good. Recommended screws are 6 or 8 gauge stainless steel countersunk wood screws 30mm long. Screw can be stainless steel silver or can also be powder-coated to match the face of the panel if required. Screw fix is recommended for acoustic panels as these have the felt backing which limits the use of construction adhesive. Screw & Adhesive FixGlobe non-acoustic panels can be screw fixed as well as adhesive fixed as they have no felt backing. If adhesive is used in conjunction with screws, less screws are needed to be used than is shown in our typical screw fix pattern above.

Pneumatic applied staplesThis fixing method works well for V-grooved, sawcut panels and stepped slots. Can also be used in conjunction with construction adhesive where there is no felt backing.
Stepped Slot FixingFor some of the perforation patterns, we can step the perforations i.e. machine the perforation part way through the panel. This allows the head's of the screws to be set-in from the face of the panel. This works well for hole and slot perforations. The location of these stepped fixing perforations is dependent on where the fixing will be on the wall. Recommended screws are 6 or 8 gauge stainless steel countersunk wood screws 30mm long. Screw can be stainless steel silver or can also be powder-coated to match the face of the panel if required.

Shop drawings
All panels are site measured and shop drawings are then produced for approval by the architect and client. These are approved and signed prior to fabrication. These show cut-outs / penetrations for sprinklers, lights, light switches, air conditioning vents etc. and show how the perforations fit around these cut outs.
Full assembly drawings can also be provided clearly showing the complete wall set out. Panels arrive onto site cut-to-size and numbered for location on the wall making for a quick and efficient installation.

The Zenthe FR Globe range has many options for perforation and machining of the panels. Substrates available for perforations and machining are painted FR MDF, timber veneer on FR MDF Black or Natural or FR Birch Plywood.
Acoustic panels have the perforations going right through the panel with black felt-backing behind the panel and when installed over the top of acoustic blanket achieves a high NRC value of up to 0.95 (depending on the percentage of the panel that is perforated or machined). We recommend that acoustic panels are installed over an acoustic blanket like Green stuff AAB 40-100 or Nova hush polyester panel absorber 40-100. Perforations are available in a range of patterns and configurations including holes, slots, saw cuts, grooves with the option of custom perforations.
Non-acoustic panels are also available and these include V grooves, sawcuts, inlaid aluminum inserts and also custom machining. Non-acoustic panels have the machining on the face of the panel and therefore these panels don’t require the black felt backing.
The below are our standard perforation patterns and configurations for acoustic and non-acoustic panels. The NRC values for the acoustic panels are based on them being installed over the top of 40 -100 acoustic blanket.
